Kazakh PM sets energy saving target

RK Prime Minister Bakytzhan Sagintayev tasked the Ministry of Investment and Development to develop a specific algorithm to reduce energy consumption by enterprises in Kazakhstan.

“It is necessary to reduce the energy intensity of the country, but the Ministry of Investment and Development has not developed algorithms to reduce energy consumption per unit of production. There are only general figures on reducing the energy intensity of industries in general. If you look at the energy register, you see that 61% of consumers are legal entities, and 37% are a quasi-state sector. This is a large amount,” Sagintayev told the Government meeting, underscoring the need to develop a specific algorithm to cut down the energy consumption. District governors are tasked to work more actively with investors from energy-intensive enterprises.
