Energy Minister reports on revamps of Kazakhstan’s 3 oil refineries
During a Government session, Energy Minister Kanat Bozumbayev gave his account on the upgrades of the country's three oil refineries.
"At the end of last year, the Pavlodar refinery upgrade project was completed, production of ecological class K-4, K-5 fuel was fixed, high-octane gasoline production was launched, which allows processing West Siberian oil in the amount of 5.5 million tons a year, as well as 4.7 million tons of Kazakhstan oil a year, while in June 2018 production of jet fuel was established, and declaration of its compliance with the Customs Union technical regulations was obtained, a PIN-code was assigned on the RT aviation fuel ", Bozumbaev accounted.
According to him, technical work is ended and commissioning is underway on the Atyrau oil refinery reconstruction and modernization project. "As part of the launching operations, 10 out of 12 process units were commissioned; the remaining two are to be launched this August. After the upgrades, the production volume of high-octane gasoline is to be 4.4 thousand tons per day and of diesel fuel 5.2 thousand tons per day, "the minister said.
Concerning the Shymkent oil refinery upgrade, the first stage of the project was finalized in June 2017, the hydrogen purification unit was launched, production of K-4 and K-5 ecological fuels was established, and the share of high-octane gasoline is about 100 percent, Bozumbayev said.
The construction works on the second stage have been completed, washing of the system and equipment running test are being carried out and commissioning is underway.
The minister also reported on construction of the integrated gas chemical complex. In June this year, construction of polypropylene production was started. A project company was created under the polypropylene production project.
