Kazakh Minister of Energy K. Bozumbayev held talks with the heads of Total, Orano and Total EREN in Paris
The parties discussed prospects for cooperation between gas export to the markets of neighbouring countries and partnership in alternative energy. France expressed its interest.
During the visit of Kazakh Energy Minister K. Bozumbaev to Paris, the leaders of large French companies Total, Orano and Total EREN met with him.
The minister noted the importance of expanding production at the Kashagan field, and also welcomed the company's intentions to develop new deposits in Kazakhstan.
The sides also discussed prospects for cooperation in gas export to the markets of neighbouring countries.
In the framework of negotiations with the vice-president of the company Orano, A. Laferrer, an exchange of views took place on the trends in the development of the world uranium market, as well as discussion of the expansion of the strategic partnership of the two countries in the uranium industry.
The head of the energy department spoke about the significant potential of wind energy in Kazakhstan, which is estimated at 1 trillion kWh per year.
In addition, the minister reported on changes in the legislation, as well as the existing incentives and preferences in the field of renewable energy sources.
Following the meeting, the company's management expressed interest in investing in wind and solar energy projects in Kazakhstan and shared plans to organize a business mission to Astana in the near future.
In recent years Kazakhstan actively develops alternative energy, creates good investment conditions for this, tries to make the construction as transparent as possible and attracts foreign companies.
K. Bozumbayev said that until 2020 in Kazakhstan there will be 52 objects of RES, the volume of investments for them will be about 1 trillion tenge.
Later, the head of LUKOIL, Alekperov and Kazakhmys Holding President V.Kim signed a memorandum on cooperation in the field of renewable energy development in Kazakhstan.
