Green Technologies Center was opened in Almaty
In Almaty, on the territory of Al-Farabi KNUA "Green Technologies" Center has started its work, constituting a kind of demonstration in action of innovative projects in the field of "green" energy.
"Projects on" green "energy are presented with the use of various technologies for obtaining energy: wind, solar, hydro- and geothermal, biogas and hydrogen energy. For this purpose, all the necessary alternative energy sources have been accumulated inside the center: heat pumps, biogas production plant, hydrogen and wind-powered generators. In the center, on the basis of modern technologies and science-intensive engineering, practical training of specialists of the new formation is being conducted,” –they say in center’s public affairs office.
Right now, in real time, innovative technologies are used. "Plant Factory" successfully operates an power-efficient greenhouse for growing flower-decorative and berry-vegetable crops using various technological modes of growing plant products with hydroponics solution. Here an environmentally sustainable and comfortable "green" environment is being created.
Estate maintenance of a river channel “Kerenkulak” with a sewage treatment plant is being completed. Water from the river will be used in a created man-made ecosystem "Aquaponica". According to the project, this place will become a popular leisure area for students, guests of the university campus and Almaty residents, as well as a practical base for teaching students the content and breeding of decorative and valuable species of fish and plants.
The head of KNUA has noted that the area of "Green Technologies" will be presented during the EXPO in Astana. KNUA scientists will present in the country pavilion "Kazakhstan" such innovative developments and technologies as: separation of a hydrocarbon gas mixture into components, a plasma-fuel system for CHP plant efficiency improvement, an autonomous solar plant for generating heat and electrical energy, and a silicon solar cell battery with a plenary concentrate.
